Time to Bake!

September 1, 2010

Another Canadian featured in Moda Bake Shop!

Hello my name is Heather, and I’m a shopaholic

August 30, 2010

Walked into a quilt shop the other day with the intention of chatting with the shop owner (not planning to purchase anything), and came out with these…

When I saw the Turnovers, and noticed that they were on sale, I just had to have them. And then the bright colours of the Jelly Roll caught my eye. And the new Fall shades of the Honey Bun. Jelly Roll, Honey Bun, and Turnover all insisted they couldn’t leave the store without the Charm Squares. So I bought them all.

The September issue of Loose Threads (Quilter’s Connection Magazine’s monthly e-newsletter) will feature a fun back-to-school project using strips from the Jelly Roll, and I plan to post some projects using the other packs on this blog in the future!

Duhhh!

Okay, I’m still a bit on the ‘new’ side of blogging. I’m certainly no expert!

It took me a while, and it was only while I was showing Tricia Sherman from Great Canadian Shop Hop how to use WordPress (BTW – Tricia is setting up a blog – I’ll post more about that soon!)…

Anyway, back on topic here! So, I just realized I can add a widget to let people sign up to receive email notification when I add a new post! I didn’t know that was available! How excited am I?! Very excited! Yippee!

So, sign up!

Happy Quilting, and Blog reading! ~ Heather

Sewing Room Hit By Tornado!

August 25, 2010

HELP! How could this have happened?

I desperately need to re-decorate and re-organize my sewing room…

I’m looking to you, blog-land readers, to give me some tips and ideas. Do you have a beautiful workspace that you have created? I’d love to hear about it! Pictures too! I’m thinking of doing an entire article on it in an upcoming issue of Quilter’s Connection Magazine, and would love your input.

Post your comments and ideas here, and send photos of your great workspace to info@quiltersconnection.ca

Quilts and Classic Cars – A Perfect Match

August 16, 2010

Ahh, something for everyone in the family – a quilt show for the women (mostly) and classic cars for the men. Finally, an event both husbands and wives, and everyone else in the family, can enjoy!

The Ladner Village annual Quilt Walk and Classic Car Show took place this past weekend in Ladner BC. Over 190 quilts were hung in store windows throughout Ladner village, and more than 360 vintage and unique cars were on display along the streets. If you haven’t been to this event before, you absolutely MUST pencil it into your calendar for 2011!

Jenny Ho of the Quilted Bear in Ladner founded this event nine years ago, and each year sees a bigger and better turnout. Joan Nicholson, this year’s organizer, did an amazing job of bringing the businesses and community together, as well as visitors from all across the Lower Mainland, to enjoy a fun-filled family event with food and entertainment, and lots of quilts and cars!
