Another great quilting magazine for Canadian quilters and the world has arrived. Well done Heather. I can hardly wait to receive it.
I am a textile reconstruction artist. What’s that?

It is the environmentally friendly alternative that is also frugal on your pocket book. I mix, match, reuse everything I can get my hands on in the finest silk, satin, velvet or other simply lovely materials. I’ve been very busy writing a college course to teach others how to reuse recycled textiles into new items.
Reusing clothing in new products of the manufactured kind is what this course is all about. Keep reading my wisenewbags blog.

Yesterday the first copy of the new Quilters Connection arrived. I was very busy and didn’t get to open it until evening. Wow, suddenly it was bedtime and I’d read every article, ad and comments. Well done. I love it.

Everything Old is New Again One Day Workshop
This one day workshop is all about recycling used garments into fantastic new items. During this workshop you’ll learn how to find the best quality of used garments, how to take them apart, reuse the useful parts and reuse the other parts too.
This workshop is happening in Hazelton, BC on June 14th, 9 am to 4pm at The Learning Shop in downtown Hazelton. Its sponsored by the Kitimat-Stikine Regional District, an innovative RD that is takinig steps to become Zero Waste. Bring a bag lunch, sewing machine, scissors and thread. All other supplies are included in this innovative workshop.
Rethinking how we purchase, why we purchase instead of making it ourselves and “Maker Culture” is covered in this one day. We’re also encouraging others to come and visit The Learning Shop for a pot luck supper and an evening lecture “Cycle of Cloth”
